TAKE A LOOK AT THE PEOPLE, THE PLACE, THE FOOD. . .
HOW IT CAME TO BE. . .
SERVE SOMETHING BIGGER. . .
The idea behind Open Porch began the way many fairy tales do, with a father who wanted to make more tea, and a son who was trying to find something to do after college. Terry (the father/tea enthusiast) and Spenser (the son/the taller one) decided to create the establishment you are enjoying today. With Terry’s Tea as the staple, we partnered with a great coffee company, and then added some delicious food to top it off. We wanted to create a store that had the comfort and look of a welcoming southern front porch, that’s why we yell “Welcome Home” when you walk through those doors. It is not only as a place that not only serves your favorite glass of tea, but stands for a bigger cause. So enjoy our top class customer service, incredible products, and world changing mission.
Here at Open Porch, our mission is simple, Serve Something Bigger. That means we don’t just serve you your favorite southern tea and coffee, we are here to make a bigger impact. The coffee you are drinking today was grown and picked in the mountains of Haiti to support their farmers and economy. We support organizations that work with issues such as helping orphans in Haiti, ending Malaria in Africa, and local charities as well. We don’t just give back our money though, our staff and managers go out locally and globally to help support those in need. If you would like to support our ChariTEA outreach, please check out our apparel in the retail section, also we sell our coffee and tea grounds as fertilizer which is perfect for gardening! All the proceeds from these items go to our mission to support others, and if you have any other questions or would like to get personally involved, email us at email@example.com.
BLENDED, BAGGED, & BREWED IN HOUSE. . .
Here at Open Porch, the main focus is our American blended microbrew tea. Terry’s Tea was created by our Founder Terry, a self-proclaimed “Tea Snob”. After always being frustrated with inconsistent southern tea, he decided to make it himself. Tinkering with different recipes and types of tea for 6 years, he finally created the version you are enjoying today! Using the finest Orange Pekoe Tea from the mountains of Sri Lanka, Terry made a tea that is both bold, smooth, long lasting, and HIGHLY caffeinated. Most companies use cheap tea as a filler, which leads to a bitter taste and a much shorter time of freshness. Not only do we use the finest tea, but we mix it and bag it right here in the store, so we can guarantee freshness of the highest quality.
So Sit Back
And Enjoy a Refreshing Glass of Terry’s Tea!
A TASTE OF THE ISLANDS. . .
Open Porch is here to Serve Something Bigger, that is why we partnered with Café Kreyol. A coffee roasting company that works in Haiti trying to make a difference. They believe that quality and sustainability are symbiotic. That farmers should get paid based on the quality of their product. They practice that belief by paying up to 300% higher wages than what Fair Trade requires for truly exceptional coffee. A big part of the company is their commitment to be transparent. The coffee is 100% traceable throughout its entire journey to your cup. Today they have expanded their operations to several other countries including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Bolivia, and Honduras. Every time you buy a cup of coffee, you are helping a family start a farm, or a child receive schooling. Enjoy your time at Open Porch as we work to alleviate poverty in rural coffee growing regions, one cup at a time.
